Safety First

Our Safety Standards

Your safety is why we built Happy2Drive. Here is how we keep it that way.

Verified instructors

Every trainer holds a current WA Driving Instructor (DI) Licence — verified directly with the Department of Transport. No exceptions.

Working with Children Checks

All instructors must hold a current WA Working With Children Check (WWCC) before they can accept any booking on Happy2Drive.

Dual-controlled vehicles

All training cars have a passenger-side brake, so your instructor can always intervene. Required under WA DoT standards.

Comprehensive insurance

Every lesson is covered by the instructor's commercial driving-school insurance, as required to operate legally in WA.

Transparent reviews

Learners can review every lesson. Ratings appear on profiles once a trainer completes a minimum number of lessons — keeping standards high across Perth.

We are in the business of helping Western Australians become safe drivers for life — not just drivers who can pass a test once and forget the rules the next day. Every part of Happy2Drive is designed around that outcome, from who we let onto the platform to how we handle problems when they occur.

The Five-Point Guarantee

1. Verified instructors

Every instructor holds a current WA Driving Instructor Licence. We verify the licence number directly with DoT during onboarding and re-verify it annually.

2. Working with Children Checks

Every instructor must hold a current WA Working with Children Check. No exceptions.

3. Dual-controlled vehicles

All training cars are fitted with a passenger-side brake so your instructor can intervene if something goes wrong. Vehicles must be under 10 years old and comprehensively insured.

4. Comprehensive insurance

Every lesson is covered by the instructor's commercial driving-school insurance. You are never personally liable for damage during a lesson.

5. Transparent reviews

Every lesson can be reviewed by the learner. Reviews are published to the instructor's profile once they reach a minimum of five completed lessons.

Reporting a concern

If anything feels unsafe during a lesson, stop the lesson and email support@happy2drive.com.au. We investigate every report within 24 hours and escalate to DoT and WA Police where needed.

What you can do as a learner

  • Be honest about your experience level
  • Wear closed-toe flat shoes
  • Do not attempt manoeuvres your instructor has not cleared
  • Follow the WA Road Traffic Code even when no assessor is watching

WA Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) readiness

WA requires 50 hours of supervised driving, including at least 25 hours at night, before you can sit your Practical Driving Assessment (PDA). Our instructors help you log those hours safely and build real-world confidence on Perth roads.

  • Our instructors are familiar with Perth's unique road conditions: roundabouts, school zones (50 km/h), and freeway merges on the Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways.
  • We cover the routes around all six DoT testing centres — Cannington, Joondalup, Midland, Rockingham, Maddington, and Clarkson.
  • WA drives on the left. Give way to the right at roundabouts and at T-intersections. "Merge like a zip" on freeways — our instructors teach all of this.
